Testing protocols, above and beyond
M. A. Silva Corks narrows the margin of error. Before releasing our corks to you, your lot is preemptively tested according to standards that exceed all regulatory requirements in our dual testing laboratories.
Our test protocols are the strictest in the industry.
Wet lab: After soaking and sensory testing, random cork samples from incoming lots are shipped to an independent specialty lab for TCA analyses.
Dry lab: More random samples are subjected to physical and dimensional trials to ensure consistent visual quality and physical characteristics.
Proprietary recording software is used to compile results of all sensorial, chemical, and dimensional trials. Our lab — not manufacturing — controls whether a lot of cork is acceptable for your consideration. If a lot fails our testing process, it is returned to Portugal.
